Promo Video

The Canadian Film Centre launched their World Wide Short Film Festival with a party at Yonge and Dundas square in downtown Toronto. The event featured musical performances by DJ T-Lo, The Wooden Sky, and Kids & Explosions, with a live visual set up by Dungeon (Justin Broadbent) and OK-AK! (Alex Kurina). The New BEAT was asked to document the event, and taking inspiration from the live visuals, created this event video. We had a lot of fun shooting and editing this piece, and look forward to more live performances by all the talented artists involved.

Music Video Production
Megan Bonnell - South Korea

Directed By Joy Broadbent

Joy Broadbent, a family member of The New BEAT, directed this fun, colourful video for up and coming artist Megan Bonnell. As producers, every member of The New BEAT contributed to the creation of this video, which was entirely shot inside our studio. This is our second video with Joy (Yukon Blonde Video Here), and we're looking forward to many more sticky, paint splattered shoots.

ABOUT MEGAN BONNELL

Toronto singer-songwriter Megan Bonnell is gearing up to make her entrance on Nevado Records with a new four-song EP, entitled MAPS. The release isn't out until June 21, but as an introduction to her music, she's just dropped a video for EP track "South Korea."

The video demonstrates just how many interesting things can happen with a sheet of clear glass and some paint, as Bonnell paints herself into corners, forests and faces while the sparse, melancholy folk pop song plays on. As the song grows in intensity, colours are added to the palette for more striking visuals. It's a charming, tasteful way to complement the song without coming off as gimmicky.

Check out Megan Bonnell's "South Korea" video below and see the artwork to MAPS above. Also, you can catch Bonnell live at Toronto's NXNE at the Nevado showcase on June 15 at the Rivoli, as well as expect summer tour dates to be announced soon.

Chris Guspie, founder and owner of Method Clothing Co, came to The New BEAT in early 2011 with a skate/snow clothing company he has been personally financing for a few years. He'd networked with a few pro boarders, made connections in skate/snow shops across Canada and had finally decided to break into the realm of online sales. This was our first site with a shopping cart so check it out and shop around!

ABOUT METHOD CLOTHING CO.

Finding the balance of being serious about what we love, yet always remembering to find enjoyment in what we do, is what makes Method just what it is. Progress, grow and give back.
